Gender Gaps in Enrollment

In Rodriguez's article, an interviewer, Albert Cruz, stated that he didn't go to college because "work would interfere with classes" and hes already making "more money than some people who go to college." I don't think that these reasons are legitimate and well thought out. What if Cruz gets laid off from his job and he can not find another one in that field? Where would Cruz resort to? Cruz is taking the short way out and should at least learn another skill as a backup. Most people will have a job there whole life and college should be alittle bit of a prep for that. You learn alot of things in college in and out of the classroom and everyone should have this experience. If I were Cruz's friend, I would tell him that he should look into night classes or just giving his classes another chance and ask his boss to cut his hours. Education is the key to everything and expanding your education is one of the best things you could do.

  1. I strongly agree that education is the key for success, is a weapon that someone can use to open many doors and helps them expand their knowledge. Im not saying that people who don’t make it to college for whatever reasons wont succeed but is very had for them to have a stable job and even a stable home. I personally have seen that people who at least went to college for two years tend to find jobs faster than people who only went to high school. I also agree that Mr. Cruz should think of a backup; life is full of unexpected events and nothing last forever. Nowadays society go by your education and Mr. Cruz should really consider going to college. Everyone in general should consider having a education. It is important for us to learn the basics so we can succeed, if we didn’t have education we would still be living like cavemen’s.
